the 1900 US Census. Lottie would appear to be the biological mother of Edward
R. and Viola. Arabelle F. from the 1910 US Census may
either be a more formal name for Lottie or perhaps his second wife.
Another wife, Cecelia (_____) Van Wicklin (b. 1880,
d. 1926) is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Rochester, Monroe
County, NY. Jeanette Dey Van Wicklin

Background
information:
Edward^8 G. Van Wicklin (Gates^7, John^6, Jan^5,
Paul^4, Garret^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 JEPPES) was b. 1868 in Brighton, Ontario, Canada and died abt.
1963 in Rochester, NY at the age of 95. Edward married four times, outliving
each wife. (Edward outlived four wives. One of them, Cecelia (_____) Van Wicklin (b. 1880, d. 1926) is buried in Riverside Cemetery,
Rochester, Monroe County, NY. His children were by his first wife.
Because his older brother Sherman looked after him and shielded him from an
abusive father, Edward obtained more schooling, was literate, had a steady job
at Eastman Kodak, and drove a car. Floyd remembers his uncle Edward taking him
for drives in a Model T Ford with a hand crank. Sometimes it ran, sometimes it
didn’t.
At the time of the 1930 US
Census, Edward G. Van Wicklin, age 61 (b. 1868,
Brighton, Ont., CAN) resided in Rochester, Monroe, NY with his daughter, Viola
F. Van Wicklin, age 28.
Children: Edward^9 Roy "Rip" Van Wicklin, b. 3 March 1899, d. December 1983 in
Rochester, NY. Edward
Roy (Rip), like his dad,
worked at Kodak in Rochester, NY. Edward Roy’s children were Edward (b. 7
September 1927 and d. 27 December 1998 Montour Falls, NY) and Gloria and
Shirley. Gloria was a telephone operator at Kodak. [see Feb 1919 Democrat & Chronicle entry in source section
below] Viola^9
Van Wicklin,
b. about 1901, married Mr. FRANKE, a missionary. She died 4 Sept 1997 at the
age of 96 and is buried in Greenwood, SC.

US Census for Brighton, Monroe, NY lists Edward G. Van Wicklin,
head, b. July 1868, Can (Can, Can), 31 (M-3), teamster, with Lottie, wife, b.
Oct. 1873, 26, (M-3), Eng (Eng,
Eng) and son, Edward R., b. Mar 1898, NY (Can, Eng), 2. (A nearly identical entry to this one is
found in the 1900 US Census pages for Greece, Monroe, NY. Only difference is
that Lottie is b. NY (NY, NY) and Edward is b. Mar 1899 and is 1 year old. It
appears as if they may have lived on the border of Brighton and Greece in
Monroe County and were interviewed by two separate census takers, perhaps with
Edward answering one time and Lottie answering the other time?)
